Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is said to be one of the best US national parks for good reason. It’s my personal favorite park for its incredible jagged mountain, colorful alpine lakes, abundance of wildlife and scenic vistas.

Hikers will love Glacier National Park, as the park has over 700 miles of trails. There are practically endless choices of waterfalls, lakes, and more. And even if you don’t hike, you’ll be left in awe on scenic drives such as the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Glacier is one of the most popular national parks, so planning can be a little more difficult than others. Reservations were required for certain areas between 2021 and 2025, and information about 2026 should be announced soon. It’s worth it to plan ahead for this incredible park.

The Best Things To Do in Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park

Drive Going-to-the-Sun Road. This is the most famous drive in Glacier, and has incredible views. Just driving is amazing, but there are also many options for hikes and viewpoints.

Hike to alpine lake. There are so many hiking opportunities in Glacier. A few of my favorite lake hikes include Iceberg Lake, Avalanche Lake and Hidden Lake.

Take a boat tour. There are a few large lakes in Glacier that offer boat tours. You can take a tour of Lake McDonald, St. Mary’s Lake, Two Medicine Lake and Many Glacier Lake. Make sure to make a reservation in advance. Kayak rentals are available too.

Eat a huckleberry bear claw. Stop by Polebridge Mercantile for a famous huckleberry bearclaw! Grab your pastry (they have several other options too), and head to Bowman Lake inside the park.
