When to Visit Patagonia
Patagonia is in the Southern hemisphere, so winter in the United States occurs at the same time as summer in Patagonia. Therefore, I recommend visiting between October and April for hiking. The best time within those months tends to be December through February.

Be prepared for a wide range of weather during your visit, the weather can be unpredictable in the mountains. Pack layers, a windbreaker, gloves and a hat, even in the summer.

Patagonia can be quite remote. Download offline maps so you’ll be able to navigate without service.

You’ll want an international phone plan to get around. An eSIM is an easy and affordable way to use your phone while traveling abroad.

The vast majority of places in Patagonia will accept credit cards and some will also accept USD.

If you plan to cross the border between Argentina and Chile, you’ll need a special permit provided by the rental car company.

Spanish is the official language in Patagonia. It helps to known some Spanish, however, most people also speak English.
