Florida Travel Guides

Florida is one of the most visited vacation destinations in the US for good reason! The state has tons of picturesque white sand beaches, is home to Disney World and other theme parks, and also has major cities such as Miami. There is so much to do in Florida!

Personally, I prefer the natural side of Florida and have absolutely loved exploring the Florida Everglades, the natural springs in Central Florida and various state parks. I also love the Florida Keys; Miami to Key West makes for an epic road trip!

Whether you’re looking for activities to enhance a beach trip or planning a Florida getaway focused on nature, I have guides to help you out.

When to Visit Florida

Florida is beautiful year round, so this really depends on what you’re interested in doing. It gets very hot in the summer, so I recommend avoiding that time unless you only want to visit the beach.

If you’d like to visit the Everglades or see manatees in the Central Florida springs, winter is the best time to visit. Winter is the dry season in the Everglades, meaning that you’ll be able to enjoy some must-do activities such as kayaking or a wet walk.

Winter also causes the manatees to swim inland into Florida springs for warmth, so it’s a great time to snorkel with them at Crystal River or admire them from the shore.

It’s also best to avoid visiting during hurricane season, which tends to be the worst between August and October (although the season technically extends from June to the end of November).

Florida Travel Tips

  • If you’re interested in visiting Dry Tortugas National Park, make sure to plan well in advance! The ferry tickets tend to sell out at least a couple months out, and you don’t want to miss this incredible park.

  • The sun can be really intense in Florida. Make sure to bring plenty of reef-safe sunscreen and sun protection.

  • Expect a lot of traffic in certain areas, such as in Miami and while driving the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.

  • Watch out for alligators! They’re all over the state. It’s unlikely that they’re hurt you, but make sure to keep your distance.
